Adopt-A-Student Program
Features an opportunity for individuals to contribute to the education of an African child by establishing a scholarship fund. The student would have demonstrated academic excellence in his/her area of study. A tax-deductible contribution of $200 provides (college) tuition for one year for one student in most NEF member institutions.

Need Based Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to underprivileged students at member institutions. NEF Board of Directors reserves the right to choose which institutions benefit from these scholarships. Institutions are required to provide proof of need(s) to justify selection criteria.

Technology Enhancement Program
Advancement of science education through donation of computers to member institutions. NEF may assist the institution with initial cost to put the systems on-line. NEF members are then responsible for networking the computers and ensuring proper function and maintenance. Members are responsible to give tutorials to students who are not computer literate or savvy.

Toxicology Internship Program
A 3-month internship at the National Veterinary Research Institute(NRVI) in Vom, Nigeria. Graduate students in biomedical research and undergraduate medical or veterinary students are encouraged to apply. Interns are paired with mentor professors, who would help them plan a project. Interns would also be taught how to design and run a toxicology study. The importance of toxicology in drug development will be emphasized. Interns will be encouraged to attend scientific meetings and conferences while undertaking training. Students would be required to write a scientific paper for possible publication. This is a paid internship (N15,000.00 monthly). Free accommodation is provided. Transportation to and from work is also included.

Curriculum Enhancement Program
NEF helps institutions review their science curriculum and recommend approaches to help meet international standards. NEF provides current scientific journals, textbooks and other reference materials the libraries of member institutions, while providing scientific supplies and equipment for their laboratories. In addition, we provide videotape lectures of various scientific subjects for student viewing.

In this program, we address the diseases that affect the people of Africa. We publish articles in print or electronic media to educate the general public on disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment program. One of such projects is our recently launched HIV prevention of Mother to Child transmission (PMTCT) program in Monrovia, Liberia.

NEF maintains a synopsis of various educational topics online. These topics are easily downloadable. Lecture outlines of topics in medicine, veterinary medicine, occupational health, toxicology and engineering are also downloadable from the website.
