Rabies kills tens of thousands of people each year and bites from infected dogs account for approximately 99% of cases. To this effect, NEF Club Uniabuja collaborated with One Health Club Uniabuja, International Veterinary Students Association (IVSA) Uniabuja and the Association of Veterinary Medical Students (AVMS) Uniabuja to commemorate this year’s World Rabies Day in a grand style. We organised a two-day event which included:1. A symposium on the theme for this year, ‘Rabies; facts not fear’ with Students of Government Secondary School Kwali and Government Primary School Kwali F.C.T. (28th Sept, 2021)2. Free Rabies Vaccination in Kwali Area Council. (2nd Oct, 2021)
The program was a huge success, we were able to fetch support from organisations such as Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Animal Care Services Konsult Nigeria, Baba consulting limited, Grand cereals and of course, Kwali Area Council. The event was also registered on the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) website.
